Giraffe Removals and Storage offers a complete and flexible business relocation and storage service, with a high level of industry expertise, to meet the individual needs of our clients.

We understand the changing needs of today’s business environment. We ensure minimal disruption to work flow with relocations carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our clients have direct phone access to our Managers, not an answering machine, at any hour, seven days a week.

Our Head Office is located in the central Sydney suburb of Summer Hill, with a Branch Office in Gosford, on the fast growing Central Coast of NSW. We specialise in the transportation of goods across the Sydney Metropolitan Area, but we are equipped to handle relocations to country centres in NSW and interstate.

Business History

The business was established in 1961, by Fred and Noreen Keoghan, when they commenced a taxi truck service under the name of Aabon Pty Ltd., and has been proudly managed by them and their family since. In 1983, the trading name was changed to Giraffe Furniture Removals.

The business was established with a vision to provide quality service at all levels. The business has grown and prospered, through quality service and attention to detail.

Insurance OH&S

  • Public Liability Insurance - Giraffe Removals and Storage has Public Liability Insurance to the value of $10,000,000.00 with GIO Insurance.
  • Workers Compensation Insurance - Giraffe Removals and Storage are fully insured for Workers’ Compensation with GIO Insurance.
  • Occupational Health & Safety - Giraffe Removals and Storage are committed to ensuring that all Occupational Health and Safety, First Aid, Management Procedures and Rehabilitation requirements are met.

Our Fleet

Our current fleet comes in a range of sizes and capacities, to best serve clients in both CBD and metropolitan areas. Our fleet consists of 10 vehicles (Pantechnicons) including:

  • 4 x 3 tonne with tail gate and walk up board,
  • 4 x 4/5 tonne with tail gates and walk up boards (2 of these with hydraulic tail gates) and
  • 2 x 6/8 tonne with tail gates and walk up boards.

Six of these vehicles are fitted with 2-way radios direct to base and drivers are able to converse between trucks. Each vehicle is well maintained and equipped.

When additional vehicles are required, we support our fleet with hire vehicles providing any type or size of truck depending on job requirements e.g Table tops or small ferry vehicles.

All drivers and supervisors have mobile phones and are contactable at all times during the relocations. Relevant phone and fax numbers will be provided.

It is a requirement that all drivers and their assistants are neatly attired in our company uniforms.

Methodology of Supervision

  • All Supervisors have extensive experience in the relocations industry.
  • Supervisors constantly monitor your relocation every step of the way to the final destination. A process of pro-active planning, communication and follow-ups ensure that every relocation goes through a predetermined sequence to ensure optimum control, timely service and a hassle-free relocation.
  • Drivers and Offsiders are issued with Company Policy, outlining the conduct, expectations and requirements of each job.

Company Policies

Uniforms
- Company employees are required to be of neat and clean appearance at all times and will wear a shirt which will be provided. Only dark blue shorts (ruggers or classics), track pants or trousers can be worn. Absolutely no jeans, cut offs, board shorts or denim shorts worn.

Start Times
- On receiving a start time, arrive early to allow the jobs to be started promptly. Please note that there are no set finish times for jobs. If you need to finish early for any reason, inform Operations when phoning for a start time rather than on the day of work.

Warehouse, Trucks and Equipment
- No smoking policies are to be met in the warehouse and on jobs. (including loading of truck).
- Please ensure that all rubbish is removed from vehicles on return to the depot.
Trucks are to be kept clean and tidy in both the front and the rear. Rear is to be swept. Pads and blankets folded neatly.
- Any equipment that comes off a truck must be put away at the depot. Everything has a place.
- Equipment removed from the depot (i.e. dollies, tools, ramps, cages, trolleys, etc) must be itemised on paperwork and accounted for at the end of the job.

On The Job
- Giraffe Removals and Storage is a professional company who require its employees to behave responsibly at all times.
If any problems arise or you are not sure of procedures advise your Supervisor immediately.
- When placing furniture or boxes, please ensure you follow the plans and instructions accurately as to the location, arranging items neatly (so it only has to be done once). Boxes are to be placed in an area of the office so as not to cause an obstructions (i.e. not in front of cabinets, under desks or in walkways). At no time are boxes to be placed on top of furniture. Fire exits are never to be obstructed.
- When handling computer equipment, please exercise the utmost care and place the equipment on the desk as it would be laid out.

Failure to comply with these regulations could result in disciplinary action being taken which may lead to dismissal.
